Earlier this year, local businessman Phil Lane was at a City Council meeting, prompting the obvious question: Are you running for mayor?

“No,” Lane said back then.

This week, a little bird said Lane may be considering a mayoral run under the voter-approved strong-mayor system of government, prompting the obvious question: Are you running for mayor now?

“I’m not running,” Lane said today.

But Mr. Lane, the word on the street suggests otherwise.

“I”m not going to run for mayor,” Lane responded.
