Czelatdko target of unflattering blog, YouTube videos

A Colorado Springs man who lampoons city officials and others on YouTube has set his sights on a new target: City Council candidate Lisa Czelatdko.

In addition to creating unflattering videos about Czeltadko on YouTube, Ed Billings started a blog opposing her candidacy, calling her arrogant and a clone of Mayor Lionel Rivera.

“I really think it would be a bad idea to elect her because I see her as one who looks down on people of a lesser income,” Billings said.

So, exactly what did Czeltadko do?

Did she wear a mink coat and Christian Louboutin heels to the soup kitchen?

Nope.

Did she laugh uncontrollably at the beggar who tripped on the sidewalk?

Not even close.

Here’s what set Billings off: Czeltadko questioned whether a church should be feeding the homeless at Acacia Park when the Marian House soup kitchen is so close by.

“I am absolutely not opposed to anyone in need receiving help,” Czelatdko said via Facebook.

It was Facebook that started the clash between Billings and Czelatdko.

Billings used to be a “friend” of Czeltadko’s on Facebook. This summer, she wrote on her page that a church was doing a “wonderful thing” by feeding the homeless.

“Their choice of location is what I questioned, and I will tell you why,” said Czeltadko, a mother of four who managed the city’s “Miracle Meter” program to help the homeless.

“I have a masters of science (degree) in school counseling and did my undergrad in psych. I know many homeless people are inflicted with mental illness or drug addiction. I was present when families began packing up their things and leaving the Wilbur fountain – a fountain that many people in this community fought hard to support and turn on for families to enjoy each summer,” she wrote.

“Families were leaving because numerous homeless residents sat down on the benches to eat their pizza and started talking to their children. I witnessed a man with obvious schizophrenia walk around the fountain screaming profanities. We are a very generous community. The Marian House provides ‘meals 365 days a year to anyone who comes to our door’ (and it’s) just one block away from Acacia Park. My point being, why when we have this wonderful soup kitchen one block away is a church choosing Acacia Park to hand out pizza?” she said.

Billings is unconvinced, saying Czelatdko represents “more of the same.”

But Billings could be called out for his choice of words.

The contents of his blog opposing her candidacy could be viewed as sexist. He calls Czelatdko “hot” in at least two instances.

“No Doubt!!!! She is HOT…..But hot doesn’t heal the wounds inflicted upon Colorado Springs!” he wrote in his first post.
