Score one for the city in the ongoing battle to collect past-due storm water fees.
On Feb. 23, the first court case to collect delinquent storm water fees went to trial – and the city prevailed.
“Although we had other default judgments issued so far, this was the first case that went to trial per the account holder’s request,” interim City Manager Steve Cox wrote in his weekly report to the City Council.
“A judgment for $3,317.90 was issued on behalf of the City for payment in full,” he wrote.
The next court case is scheduled for Wednesday.
Now notice that the city says they are not going after the county and federal government structures , so they are choosing to go after the little guys and forgive the big money. they know that it is a losing battle . even if they get a judgement so what. there is not much they can do to collect it .. all they want to do is collect money and give it to their pet projects such as the usoc deal. this is no different than extortion from the mafia. and in this case once again the city is worse than the mafia.
This lame duck council will do anything to decimate and destroy the residents of this city. The phoney storm water fee (really a tax) was voted out by voters, that does not mean the city can collect extortion money from the taxpayers. I would suggest a class action suit against the present city council as discriminatory for not including the post office and other government entities. I would hope that the new mayor and council would recind this stupidity before the court cases cost the city more money. Excuse me they have a collection agency doing their dirty work. We will include the agency also for extortion. Don’t know how it would work but sounds good to me!
You coulda run for mayor again, Tony. But you know even fewer voters buy that mafia ruse than your previous 15 minutes of fame.
By the way, why the long silence? Too busy sealing cracks in your imperious paved landscape to campaign for Lame Doug and the Bedrock Slate?
Since the city “forgave” the USPS, EPC and 10,200 other “delinquents”, it appears there may be a good
14TH AMENDMENT ARGUMENT.
I expect to be treated just like the USPS, EPC and the 10,200 others.
Anyone have more info on U.S. v. City of Cincinnati 96-605C which concluded that municipal enterprise “fees” were, in fact, TAXES?
Any attorneys out there willing to do some community service and represent all us “delinquent” SWE scam victims?
By the way, what exactly is the case ID so “we the people” can look this up and ensure it isn’t just more lying BS from our corrupt, gangster City Government and their union thugs trying every lowlife trick in the book to get the citizenry to pay their ILLEGALLY ASSESSED TAXES which violate the provisions of TABOR.
“We the people” want to know the name of the judge in these “cases”.
Identify! Or STFU!
