Colorado Springs has a new Streets Division manager.
The city announced today that Rick J. Rudometkin, whose effective start date was Tuesday, was selected after a national search and competitive process.
Rudometkin will be paid $110,819 a year, city spokeswoman Mary Scott said.
Rudometkin worked for the last four years as director of transportation/public works for the County of Modoc in California. He recently served as that city’s chief administrative officer, the city said in a press release.
Rudometkin has a bachelors of science degree in business management from Woodbury University and has worked in both the public and private sector, the city said.
He has also worked as public works manager for the city of Dana Point and utility/project manager for the engineering firm Willdan.
The previous Streets Division manager was Saleem Khattak, who resigned in December 2010 to take a job with the Colorado Department of Transportation.
Scott said Allen Peterson, streets program supervisor, and Bard Lower, streets operations manager, had been splitting administrative duties while the city conducted the national search.
He has a big job ahead of him. The streets in this city are really in poor condition.
Since Ive started in April, the City has 6 of the 9 new Council members, a new Mayor, a new police chief, a new city attorney, an interim city clerk, a new fire chief, a new streets department manager, a new mayor administration assistant, a new communications director, a newly created social media employee, a newly created city council liasion, and a completely newly created department of economic vitality with 2 brand newly created City job positions, and an innovative sustainability position. Those are just the ones I know of.
Well. He did say he would create jobs.
Yes, I just didnt realize they would be newly created City jobs plus benefits.
But the job description specifically states that the City prefers the candidate be a “Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of Colorado” and have a “Master’s degree in a closely related field.”
He doesn’t have either. I wonder if the other candidates not selected did????
