Attorney Pat Mika, who represented 19-year-old Hooters waitress Illysa Medina after she was accused of serving a visibly intoxicated patron, said the CBI investigation of Metro VNI was nothing more than a whitewashing.
Mika said the investigation, which cleared the two undercover detectives involved in the case of wrongdoing, could not be classified as complete.
“They never talked to the victim of this false accusation and that is Illysa Medina. Nor they did they ever talk to the lawyer who represented her. They got nothing but self-serving information from the police officers who were there trying to preserve their careers, their reputations and their jobs.”
According to the CBI report, the only people interviewed were: VNI detectives Jeff True and Greg Young, police Sgt. Bret Poole, city prosecutors Elliot Fladen, Anthony Moore and Jarrett Benson, sheriff Bureau Chief Joe Breister, city spokesman John Leavitt and private attorney Vince Linden, who represented Hooters in front of the city’s liquor board.
Its No Wonder that we the citizens of El Paso County are getting what we deserve. Incompenent Police/Sheriff Dept. who seem “To Get Away With Lying” about what they saw to justify their position. We need to say “We’ve had enough, and will not take it anymore”. Now we have our Co. State CBI unit exonorating the detectives and their sloppy police work, falsifying reports, falsely arrested a young lady, drinking on the job and other mistakes
Its time we tell those in power, i.e. City Council, County Commisiioners, and our Governor, that they need to step forward and control their law enforcement departments.
What I find most disturbing about this is that officials think this will placate the citizens, that we’ll not grumble too much. Well, let’s not forget this. Let’s try to connect the dots, so to speak. We have the City labor associations enabling the Acacia Park occupiers. These associations have their hands deep in taxpayer’s pockets, have for years used Council to raid the general fund to pay for their gold plated retirement plans.
City officials have long ago burned through my good will. I don’t trust them and I call for the means to verify the veracity of their statements. This time, it was a 19 year old single mom. Next time it might be any of us.
so what is a 19 year old doing serving alcohol in the first place?
Dan, you can’t connect dots that don’t exist. You don’t trust them, but how can anyone trust you?
I call for you to verify the veracity of your own statements:
Name one city or county labor association (city employee policy prohibits labor union membership).
Verify in numbers and years the “raid” effect on the general fund. Admit that PERA began years before social security and continues to be more fiscally solid. Admit that federal law gives civil servants no choice: either contribute to FICA or a private pension plan. Admit that even if PERA members had outside employment, 50% of their EARNED social security allotment is removed. Admit that county employees pay into both at a rate higher than the city’s single plan. Why do you overlook EPCO’s general fund?
Seems your good will was limited to begin with, compounded with your false assertions. Finally, as Meg reminds, you excuse a minor’s illegal serving of alcohol.
not so fast,
Colorado Springs Professional Firefighters, Local 5.
But please, let’s stay on the subject at hand.
While you must be 21 to drink alcohol or work in a bar or liquor store, you only have to be 18 to serve alcohol in a restaurant as long as a supervisor who is over 21 is present, according to Colorado liquor laws.
Daniel
topic? VNI is neither firefighter union membership nor general-fund city employee pension membership.
This does not surprise anyone who has dealt with the VNI. As a former bar owner you know that they have the power to ruin your business, take your life and freedom if they dont like the strength of their free cocktail. I have seen them do it to friends of mine.
Let the cops drink and drive on the job and do anything they want you to in your business, they own you. Breathe a sigh of relief when they leave and hope they and the DA dont shut down your business a month later on drummed up charges. Unless your name is Guadinoli your business is in constant danger from this gang of proven liars.
If you are a drug dealer if they want cash give it to them. You will get off. The flip side is that you know they will not get into trouble even if they are caught on video lying to a judge. They have all the power and the citizens have none.
I wonder how many innocent people officers True and his gang have sent to prison on made up drug and alcohol charges.
If you ever see the name True, Young, Poole on a badge or look across the courtroom and see city prosecutors Elliot Fladen, Anthony Moore and Jarrett Benson, sheriff Bureau Chief Joe Breister be prepared to grab your ankles and hope they give you a reach around.
That is just the way it is in the CSPD, the CBI and the blue mafia. I hold the new police chief responsible for this cover-up and injustice to the citizens of C-Springs. He too is former VNI and appears to be corrupt just like the rest of the officers.
not so fast,
First, I did not state that VNI belonged to a union. You asked me to “name one city or county labor association.” I did. Dozens of city firefighters belong to Colorado Springs Professional Firefighters, Local 5. They just don’t have bargaining power.
Second, you asserted that VNI is not a “general-fund city employee pension membership.” You are wrong. VNI includes city police. Where do you think the city gets its money to pay for benefits?
