Don’t call Larry McEvoy the Million Dollar Man just yet.
McEvoy, the former CEO of Memorial Health System, still hasn’t been paid the entire 18 months severance pay — or $1 million — under a controversial separation package that the former Memorial Board of Trustees approved before being removed from office.
“To date, the only separation-related payment that has been made to Dr. McEvoy is the six-month severance payment of $335,005, which was made in May,” Memorial spokeswoman Cari Davis said in an email.
What’s the holdup?
“I don’t know,” Davis said.
The City Council decided to honor the terms of the agreement rather than embark on a potentially costly legal battle.
Under the agreement, McEvoy will receive 18 months severance pay, a 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid and $20,000 to help find a new job.
Our city government, not unlike many others, is penny wise but pound foolish. Political hubris, regardless of any outcome, will reign supreme.
McEvoy needs a kick in the ass, and no more money.
I am sure Bach has order a stop payment on the money. Hoping he will go way and forget his time her in Colorado Springs.
If he wants it then pay for it. Hire a few attornys and see where it goes.
I hope he sues the crap out of Colorado Springs if they make him do that.

Memorial spokeswoman Cari Davis’ reply is “I don’t know.” Are you kidding me? That’s her answer?! How did she ever get a job as a spokeswoman? Great public relations skills you have there, lady.
Q: Does anyone know what their doing over there?
A: I don’t know.
Q: Is this severance payout a criminal act or just an ignorant act?
A: I don’t know.
Q: Did McEvoy do anything that deserved such a high payout since he failed in his mission of making the hospital independent nonprofit and the employees aren’t allowed raises?
A: I don’t know.
Q: How can I get a high-paying job where all I have to do is say “I don’t know?”
A: I don’t know.
What is said publically sometimes has no relation what is being said/done privately.
I do know that I hope Mayor Bach is determining how to fight this. Will Council reverse its decision, get some backbone and fight this? Or, is an investigation being contemplated?
Mayor Bach, I don’t see how you can let Council get away with this. An investigation is necessary. Fight this for us.
Can’t we just forget, postpone or blame the post office for losing that McEvoy check in transit???
McEvoy should walk a mile in the shoes of the employees that were dedicated to the system not him but the hospital itself. He is a joke and should be ashamed of himself. Spoiled, ruthless, and not capable of being a CEO.
How do you get a “severance package” when you quit your job? That makes no sense! He wasn’t fired or laid off…he quit. The lunatics are in charge of the asylum!

“I hope he sues the crap out of Colorado Springs if they make him do that.”
Are you nuts?
It would seem that there really are only a few good men left in our world; McEvoy isn’t one, though Dr. Ted Eastburn was…and I hate how his name has been left out of this conversation. http://spydrasweb.blogspot.com/2012/05/lie-of-omission.html
I’m still angry at how McEvoy lied and betrayed all of us employees. Lets just get him the rest of his money and move on. He lied and cheated all of us. Lesson learned. Now lets move on and make sure this doesn’t happen again.
The dr.is owed money that was given to him, so pay
end of story
Perhaps they are paying it 6 months at a time? He must not have been guaranteed a “lump sum” payment.
