Colorado Springs Fire Chief Rich Brown issued a statement Wednesday condemning a YouTube Video that portrayed him as Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler.
Brown says the insensitivity of the video, which now has more than 4,600 hits, up from 1,300 on Monday, is “inexcusable.”
Here is the chief’s entire statement:
“The Colorado Springs Fire Department fulfills our mission of providing the highest quality problem solving and emergency service to our community every day with pride. The insensitivity of a YouTube video posted recently is inexcusable. It is an unfair representation of the men and women on our Fire Department that work so hard to make our community a safer place to live. If we determine that public resources were used for the creation or dissemination of this distasteful and hateful communication, we will take appropriate action. City computer misuse may result in discipline, up to and including discharge.”

The only reason anybody even knows about it, is because he keeps whining to the press about it.
Too funny if the shoes fits then wear them. Fire Chief If not then see where the break down of communcation is at and change it. If you care at all.

Dear Chief Brown,
There’s no way that this video was made on duty. First, the responsible party would need to make a script, with queues for other speakers (besides the Hitler character) with appropriate (and possibly funny) side commentary. Then, the individual(s) would need a considerable amount of time, organization and resources that the firehouse just cannot provide including – but not limited to – video programs that would allow for the insertion of subtitles from the aforementioned script. This would require an investment of time that running calls would yield impossible.
And like another commenter said before me, the more you talk about it, the more attention the public will bring to it, and the less likely you are to find out who did it. At this point, you should surrender with grace and recognize that while you may not like what the video is saying, someone felt that what you were doing was unfair in some way. You should turn your attention to making this better, improving morale, and not trying to punish a phantom.
As a side note, I believe that firefighters should be able to take naps. Shoot, I don’t work for 1, 2, or 3 days at a time and I still take a nap when I get off work! And trust me, my job is not that physically taxing, unlike a firefighter’s. If you want good results, rest would only help with that. Thank you.

No one deserves this type of use of the worst leader of anytimes in history. If the culprits who made this film of Chief Brown don’t have the BALLS to come forward they are the puppets of Adolf and are afraid to speak on whats on their minds in front of him. Maybe the Chief is tough and because of you not doing what is right and he is making the point of it. The only thing Adolf did that was right was putting a gun to his head and firing it or taking a poison pill. But, NO ONE DESERVES this kind of treatment.
I do want to say, “Thank you to all First Responders; Firefighters, Police, Volunteers and others who protect my life, my home and more inportantly my family.
Why would anyone want more of this type of video mocking a city official? City officials are just trying to do their jobs for the citizens of Colorado Springs. If there was a fire near our city or our own neighborhoods, I would want firefighters there.
And it’s not okay in this day and age, to use images of Hitler mocking or portraying leaders. Also, do not call a clergy person crazy… No matter what their faith or religion. With all due respect, sir, give clergy Your respect.

For the Chief to take it as seriously as he is does little more than make him look like the up tight jerk the video portrays him as being.

I suspect that those folks who encourage us to “lighten up” about vulgar use of Nazi imagery did not lose family members in the Holocaust.
Maybe they should have used Pol Pot of Cambodia for the parody, it does seem to be a better match!
Pol Pot was the leader of the communist movement in Cambodia. He attempted to “cleanse” the country and it resulted in the death of an estimated 1.7 to 2.5 million people. There was an interesting policy going around called agrarian collectivization which he put into practice in the late 1970′s. Basically it forced city folk to head out to the farms to do some labor and vice versa for farmers. As you might guess, and hindsight is 20/20, neither group was very good at their new jobs. Pol didn’t stop at enslaving his own people though. He also didn’t feed them well, gave them little medical care, and executed many of them. The net result was killing off approximately 1/5 of the Cambodian population!
