Would you take a picture at a funeral and post it on Facebook?
According to City Councilwoman Angela Dougan, El Paso County Commissioner Sallie Clark took a photo during the funeral of fallen Colorado Springs Policeman Matt Tyner on Tuesday and posted it on Facebook.
Dougan, the wife of a policeman, said Clark’s actions upset her beyond belief.
“It upset me because I thought that was completely inappropriate and over the line,” Dougan said Wednesday.
Dougan said she pulled Clark aside during the joint Republican-Democrat party fund raiser for the Waldo Canyon fire victims at Penrose House and expressed her feelings.
“Within a couple of hours, Sallie Clark called me and thanked me for saying that personally to her and that she had removed them from her Facebook,” Dougan said.
“I was very proud that she did that. She said she never meant any ill will or any inappropriateness.”
The picture that Clark posted on Facebook showed an honor guard from the Colorado Springs Police Department presenting the American flag to Tyner’s mother during the funeral at New Life Church.
The Gazette sent Clark an email seeking comment.
Is it just me or does Ms. Dougan seem like a “cranky pants”?
Sallie? Inappropriate and over the line? Never! Actually, that kind of indecent posturing is her trademark, but she’s blind to it. She disgusts people with her posturing and pandering. More than one person I know said she would have started the Waldo Canyon fire herself, just to try to get on tv. This woman is a shameless self promoter and it is precisely because of another woman who is much like her, Amy Lathen, that we were hoodwinked with the term limits ballot question in 2010, and are now stuck with this devil in the red dress for another 4 year term. A pox on her, on Lathen, and anyone like them.
To clarify and correct the information in this blog, the original post included a photo of the honor guard and did not include family members out of respect for their privacy. Councilwoman Dougan and I have a good relationship and I appreciated her personal request. My posting comments included thanks for Officer Tyner’s distinguished service and asked for our community to keep family and friends in our prayers.

Shame on ALL of you for using the officer’s funeral as an opportunity for your political bickering and self-promotion…..I googled this topic to get some more info on the officer’s funeral and this crap is what I come across. Shameful.
Just a thought – leave your camera at home when you go to funeral.
Mrs. Dougan should be upset with her husband since he was the only Sgt wearing an old and outdated uniform. Maybe he didn’t get the memo that 2 years ago he was supposed to take his rank off his sleeves and move it to his collar like everyone else has done.
So..
How did Mrs. Dougan’s problem with Ms. Clark make its way to the Gazette. Seems that the supply of self-promoting diva politicians…Lisa, Sallie, Amy, Angela, and so on…is a bottomless one.

Still, it’s too bad that the solemn nature of the funeral would end up as an article about petty confrontations between a couple of political women.
I published this earlier on Facebook but I would again like to state here this is not a story. I told Sallie my opinion and she respectfully took the photo down. I appreciate her doing so.
Photos are taken at funerals all the time by the press and plastered all over the front page. How many times has the press printed pictures of caskets of Soldiers being carried off the plane? The funeral of a President? Princes Dianna? Michael Jackson? Media claims they are doing as a public service. So an elected official taking a picture of the color guard and stating her thanks for Officer Tyner’s distinguished service and asking for our community to keep his family and friends in our prayers on Facebook is inappropriate? I see way too much dislike for a politician and way too much love for the press here.

Sallie Clark is a publicity whore. Anyone who thinks differently needs to have their heads examined. You’d find out if, God forbid, you should be standing between her and a tv camera. You’ll be run over, pushed aside, and thrown under the bus. Her “adoring public” must see her! Her “adoring public” wants to know what she thinks! Bull. If anyone thinks her posting a picture of this policeman’s funeral was really about her honoring a fallen policeman, I’ll beg to differ with you. It is vintage Sallie Clark, fawning all over herself, patting herself on the back, trying to persuade people she really has our best interests at heart, trying to persuade us she deserves another term in office, trying to act like she really cares about us. We deserve someone in that seat that is a real public servant, not a self serving politician, not someone like Sallie Clark. .
Well MM you will have your chance at the election. Vote her out. That’s the great thing about this country. Vote her out and live with who takes her place. But be careful of screwing with the bull though, you may get the horns.
As a Democrat, the closest we’ve come to having a (D) on the Board of County Commissioners in light years is Sallie Clark. She’s just one shot less of a Republican than Jan Martin is or was. It’s our little dirty secret in the political community. Why do you think she gets a bye so many times from the Colorado Springs Indie? But, don’t think for one minute if the Democrats were the political power in this county that she’d be a Republican. She wouldn’t be. Her political flag is a flag of convenience, and nothing more. She would be a Democrat on a moment’s notice, is what I say and I think many others do too. But, we actually have a real choice now with someone that will actually say he’s a Democrat. John Morris is running. But, if Sallie would change her afflliation to (D), I’d still be outraged at this publicity whore. What she did on the term limits question is unforgiveable. Let’s hope we vote in as a commissioner someone who is PROUD to be a Democrat!
One local politician gets hammered for posting a single picture on the internet. The Gazette posts many pictures of the same funeral, including pictures of the casket.
I don’t hear anyone raising a ruckis about the Gazette.
Well MM sounds like the D in you has issues with her not because of the photo posting but more because she isn’t your type of D or R. Why not stick to the point of the article and not use your political dislike for her cloud the issue. If she did wrong posting the picture it should not matter if she is an R or D.
