The parking situation at UCCS is a nightmare. I have two sons that attend UCCS. They were on a wait list for a parking permit and they cancelled the wait list. They can park at 4 diamonds and catch a shuttle to UCCS but there are so many kids trying to catch a shuttle and they frequently are late to class. They will arrive at 4 diamonds a hour before class and it may wait an hour to get on a shuttle that travels 2 or 3 miles to drop them off at the college. UCCS needs to do something to improve this situation.
To fix the problem, Colorado State law will need to be changed…all UC student parking must be self-paid. No State or University funds may be used to build or maintain parking facilities. This results in high parking fees, that encourage students to park off campus. The solution is in Denver, not the Mayor’s office.
