Mayor Steve Bach will have to wait until next year to get responses from Colorado Springs Utilities to a long list of questions about the Martin Drake Power Plant downtown.
Bach had given Utilities CEO Jerry Forte a Christmas Eve deadline to answer 18 questions about the power plant, which city officials are talking about decommissioning.
But Friday, Forte sent Bach an email stating he is working on responses but won’t be able to meet his deadline.
“Because of the number and complexity of the questions, I will not be able to complete this effort by the date you requested. I plan on having something to you during the first week in January,” Forte said in the email.
“Please let me know if you would like to meet in the interim.”
Jerry, do not cave in to Bach’s demands. He is probably starting to get frustrated because citizens are beginning to understand the unethical actions taken so that Bach can pursue his own agenda and the agenda’s of Jenkins, Schuck, and other developers. The utilities board voted to go ahead with the neumann system. I enjoyed Chacon’s artcle where he accepted Bach’s challenge to provide proof that he wanted to build a ball park downtown. It was too funny. Bach better think twice before putting out a challenge like that again. It appears he has several skeletons in his closet.
How can Bach set a deadline for somebody he has 0 authority over. Forte should give him the finger until his bosses are the ones to ask. As for skeletons- oh yes there are plenty if digging deep enough. Bach working for Schuck wouldn’t be the first time found a creative way to take land for their own development. Somebody with know how should dig through Schuck Corp’s previous 2 bankruptcies and see how many people/businesses got screwed while Schuck and his COO (Bach) got rich.
Well-said, Mike. Bach is once again trying to overstep his authority.
Jerry wait until the study is done. Bach is nothing but a puppet whose strings are pulled by his development friends and now that Neuman has verification from reputable people on his systems Bach and his cronie development friends along with know nothing Leigh and should have stayed a housewife Dougan are desparate. Bach has ZERO authority over are utilities. Tell him to file a open records request like every other citizen.
Bach should focus on the things he actually has responsibility for, like police and the horrid condition of our streets and bridges. The American Society of Civil Engineers recently ranked Colorado Springs streets and bridges a “D.” Utilities? Best service and lowest rates in the region. Mayor Bach: don’t confuse the bully pulpit (what you should do) with being a bully (how you act every day).
Mayor Bach can’t remember some of his statements to the public. I’ve heard several employees state that some of his orders are questionable and confusing lately and he is becoming very “forgetful.” The mayor is in his seventies, maybe it’s time to retire before senility sets in.
